About The Author
Francisca Vandepitte
Francisca Vandepitte (PhD, Art History & Archaeology, University of Ghent, 1996) is Senior Curator of Modern Art (1900-1968) at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Belgium (RMFAB) and responsible for the restoration department of modern art. She organised and co-organised numerous exhibitions of Belgian art, among them comprehensive retrospectives of the work of Panamarenko, Constantin Meunier, and Rik Wouters. Since 2015 she has taught at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She frequently publishes essays on Belgian modern art and on conservation and restoration.
Inga Rossi-Schrimpf (PhD, University of Münster, 2011) is Curator of Works on Paper, Modern Art and coordinating Curator of the Fin-de-Siècle Museum at the RMFAB. She has organised and led several research projects and exhibitions, among them 14⁄18: Rupture or Continuity? Belgian Art around the First World War and The New Berlin 1912-1932. Her current and ongoing project is BePAPER: Belgian Art on Paper in a European Context, 1918-1950.
Pierre-Yves Desaive (Ma Art History & Ma IT & Human Sciences, University of Liège) is Curator of Contemporary Art (after 1968) at the RMFAB. He has curated numerous exhibitions, and was President of the Association Belge des Critiques d’Art (ABCA) from 2009 till 2012. As a member of the Commission for Digital Arts at the Ministry of Culture, he frequently publishes essays on the relation between art and technology, and the use of digital media in an artistic way. He teaches at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels (La Cambre, Brussels).
