About The Author
Forough Sajadi
Dr. Forough Sajadi is an art historian and cataloguer specializing in Persian and Indian miniature painting.
She is currently undertaking a project titled Indian Art Aficionado: Unveiling the Collections of Peter Formijne (1899–1995) at the Rijksmuseum. In 2023, she served as a Scaliger Fellow at Leiden University Libraries’ Special Collections, where her research informed the creation of her recent book.
Dr. Sajadi earned her Ph.D. in Humanities in Arts Studies from the University of Warsaw in 2021. Between 2021 and 2023, she was involved in the research project “Islamic Manuscripts in Dutch Museums, Public and Private Collections.” Prior to this, from 2018 to 2019, she was an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow at the Rijksmuseum, where she conducted her doctoral research.
Her scholarly work has led to numerous publications, including her recent book The Persian Miniatures Collection of the Rijksmuseum, A Hidden Treasure Trove (Brill: 2025). She also co-authored Khorshid Khanom: A Study in the Origin and Development of the Shir-o Khorshid Motif (Mage Publishers: 2024).
