About The Author

Erin Clabough

Erin Clabough is a mother of four with a PhD in neuroscience. Her parenting style is deeply influenced by her background in brain development research. She teaches biology and neuroscience and leads an active research program exploring brain function, from developmental areas like fetal alcohol syndrome to lifespan topics such as neurodegenerative disease.

Clabough is also passionate about integrating neuroscience principles into teaching, service learning, and providing hands-on learning experiences for students of all ages. She previously participated in a developmental cognitive neuroscience program at the University of Denver, where she researched Down syndrome, autism, and schizophrenia. Erin earned her PhD in neuroscience from the University of Virginia in 2006, focusing on the molecular genetics of neurodegeneration. She then completed a three-year postdoctoral research position at the University of Virginia. Her scientific research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
