Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, later becoming a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric created a bedtime story about a small puppy for his son, giving birth to the character Spot. He published Where’s Spot? in 1980, an interactive children’s book featuring an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and charming, distinctive illustrations. The book’s immediate popularity inspired him to pursue a career as a full-time author. Since then, Spot books have been enjoyed by children globally and have expanded into audiobooks, animation, toys, and games.
