Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014)
Eric Hill was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic journey as an art studio messenger, progressing to become a cartoonist and later an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story for his son about a small puppy, and thus, Spot was created. Where’s Spot? was published in 1980, revolutionizing interactive children’s books with its innovative lift-the-flap design, simple narrative, and delightful, distinctive illustrations. The book’s instant popularity inspired him to dedicate himself to writing full-time. Since then, Spot books have captivated children globally and have been adapted into audio books, animation, toys, and games.
