Emily Walsh is a non-practising solicitor with a background in commercial real estate. She is an Associate Professor of Landlord and Tenant Law and Legal Education at the University of Portsmouth, where she leads modules in land law and property practice. Emily has extensive experience teaching land and landlord and tenant law to students in law and surveying programmes. She also supervises students at the University’s legal advice clinic, assisting clients with various land and landlord and tenant matters. Her recent research investigates the experiences of tenants in the private rented sector, focusing on the concept of home in rented accommodation and the position of student occupiers. Emily also has a keen interest in higher education pedagogy and legal education research. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she mentors colleagues through fellowship applications and serves on the University’s HEA fellowship assessment panel. Her publications and ongoing research explore assessment in legal education and teaching law to non-law students.

Annabelle Harrison is a non-practising solicitor with a background in commercial practice. She is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Head (Curriculum) at the University of Portsmouth’s School of Civil Engineering and Surveying. Annabelle contributes to developing practice-informed legal education that aligns with professional body accreditation requirements. She coordinates undergraduate modules such as Introduction to Law for the Built Environment and Land Law and Landlord and Tenant Law, ensuring students acquire the legal competencies necessary for professional practice. Annabelle holds an LLM in Construction Law and Practice, earning the Hill Dickinson Prize for her dissertation on the implications of the Building Safety Act 2022 for defect claims. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, her academic interests include legal education, practice-informed pedagogy, and the evolving assessment landscape, particularly concerning artificial intelligence. She has recently presented on these topics at the Association of Law Teachers conference.
