Emily Brontë
Emily Brontë (1818-1848) authored the singular novel Wuthering Heights. This work was accepted for joint publication with her sister’s novel, Agnes Grey, by Thomas Newby. Critics initially reacted with hostility, deeming the novel too savage and clumsy in its construction. However, over time, Wuthering Heights has achieved recognition as one of the finest novels in English literature.
