As Sunrise falls and the Sovereigns begin to wane, Maren, Scion of the Sunrise Temple, awakens from her Long Sleep to find the Capital forever changed. Struggling to adjust to a new role in a Temple filled with uncertainty, Maren must navigate the delicate balance between tradition and progress while Callisto, her Sovereign, moves between two worlds on their behalf.
When Maren meets Hollie, a physician from the Capital, her life takes an unexpected turn, drawing her deeper into a web of secrets and shifting allegiances. Meanwhile, Nash, newly awakened as a Night Scion, is haunted by restless spirits bearing grim truths. With Keir, his Sovereign, Nash begins to make dangerous interventions in the Capital's fragile political landscape-actions the Night have long warned against.
As corruption spreads through the Administration, both the Sunrise and Night must face the question: Will their efforts be enough to stop the tide of decay, or has entropy already sunk its roots too deeply into the heart of the Capital?
