Born and raised in Ohio, Eli Yoder grew up in an Old-Order Amish community in Hardin County. At eighteen, Eli left the ultra-conservative community after facing condemnation for riding a bicycle–an experience that characterized the oppressive traditions of his upbringing. His departure marked the beginning of a journey to discover truth and freedom through the Bible and salvation in Jesus Christ.

Now residing in Waynesfield, Ohio, with his wife Nikki and their son Johnathan, Eli is a passionate preacher, truck driver, and social media personality. Known as “the preaching truck driver,” Eli shares straightforward and heartfelt messages from the cab of his truck through social media, where he discusses Bible teachings and his life experiences both within and outside the Amish community. His mission extends beyond his own story–Eli frequently supports former Amish individuals, helping them transition into mainstream society by offering guidance and resources.

In 2017, Eli experienced a life-changing encounter with Jesus. This moment marked a turning point in his life and cemented his commitment to sharing the truth of God’s Word. Through his online platforms, Eli passionately brings the message of freedom from spiritual oppression, helping others break free from the deceptions of man-made religious traditions. Eli also travels to various churches around the country, sharing his testimony and message of freedom from religious legalism while abiding in Jesus.

Eli’s message is not only about leaving a way of life, but also about finding a path illuminated by the truth of Jesus. His work sheds light on the complexities and challenges of the Amish, making him an influential voice in discussions about religious oppression and personal autonomy.

On a lighter note, Eli is a passionate Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He often jokes, “If it wasn’t for Jesus and Ohio State football, it might not have been worth it to leave the Amish Egypt!”

His book, Undeceived, details his experiences growing up in an Old-Order Amish community and the incredible transformation that came through embracing the redemptive work of Jesus. Through his story, Eli shares how he found freedom in the truth of the Bible, offering readers a compelling and relatable story of struggle, faith, and ultimate redemption.
