About The Author

Eleanor L. Stevenson

Eleanor Stevenson, PhD, RN received her B.S. in Nursing and her MS in Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from Rutgers University College of Nursing, and her Ph.D. in Nursing Research and Theory Development from New York University College of Nursing, USA. During her doctoral studies, she received the Alumni Association Doctoral Achievement Award; the Sigma Theta Tau, Upsilon Research Award; the Rudin Family Award for Doctoral Achievement; and the McRae Foundation Award. Dr. Stevenson joined the faculty of Duke University School of Nursing in August, 2011 and teaches in the ABSN program. Prior to her faculty appointment, Dr. Stevenson was a full time Clinical Nurse Educator at Duke University School of Nursing.Patricia Hershberger, PhD, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC is an Associate Professor in the Department of Women, Children and Family Health Science, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing, and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, College of Medicine, USA. She received her PhD in Nursing Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and subsequent post-doctoral training focusing on Decision Science from the University of Michigan. Her initial education in nursing (ASN & BSN) was received at Indiana University (Northwest). She completed her master’s degree in Maternal-Child Nursing from Valparaiso University and is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. From 1992 to 2007 she held certification in In-Patient Obstetrics from the National Certification Corporation. Recently, she was nationally recognized for her research contributions toward improving the health of women and their families by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses with the 2013 Excellence in Research Award.
