Eileen Kennedy
Dr. Eileen Kennedy is a professor at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, where she previously served as dean. Her research interests include assessing the health, nutrition, diet, and food security impacts of policies and programs; nutrient density and diet diversity; agriculture-nutrition linkages; and food systems.
From 2015 to 2019, Dr. Kennedy was a member of the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition of the UN Committee on World Food Security. In this role, she oversaw the development of the report, Nutrition and Food Systems.
Dr. Kennedy also founded and was the first Executive Director of the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, overseeing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. She created the Healthy Eating Index, a measure of diet quality in the USA.
