The sturdy Fokker C.XIw was designed and built for service in the Royal Netherlands Navy. Development started in early 1934. The biplane scout was the first Dutch aircraft which could be catapult launched. Edwin Hoogschagen has been studying Dutch aviation history since the late 1990s and specialises in Fokker types from the interbellum. His main activities are focused on the Fokker G-1 and Fokker C.5. Since 2001, he has been a member of the Fokker G-1 establishment and, from 2007 onwards, a committee member.
