Edward O. Wilson (1929-2021) was a world-renowned natural scientist. He spent his youth exploring the forests and swamps of south Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, where he developed a passion for collecting insects, particularly ants, which became his lifelong specialty.

Wilson authored over twenty books, including two Pulitzer Prize winners: On Human Nature (1979) and The Ants (1991). He was a professor at Harvard University for more than four decades. In his retirement, he founded the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, dedicated to advancing the “Half-Earth Project,” his ambitious vision for global wilderness restoration.

David Quammen is a leading American science and nature writer, authoring more than a dozen books such as The Song of the Dodo: Island Biogeography in an Age of Extinction (1996), Spillover: Animal Infection and the Next Human Pandemic (2012), and The Tangled Tree: A Radical New History of Life (2018). He resides in Bozeman, Montana.
