About The Author

Edgar Lee Masters

Edgar Lee Masters (1868–1950) was an American poet, biographer, and dramatist. He is best known for Spoon River Anthology (1915), a collection of short, first-person narratives that portray the lives and deaths of residents in a small Midwestern town. A lawyer by trade, Masters devoted himself to writing after the success of Spoon River Anthology. He produced numerous works, including novels, biographies, and other poetry collections, though none achieved the same acclaim as his most famous work.
