Critics Review
Our reflections over the past four years on the service of the Anzacs in World War I have uncovered many stories. This story, tenaciously pursued by Albert Wong, and well captured by Will Davies, tells us of a contribution to the War, and particularly to the Anzacs, that few of us would be aware of.The Chinese Labour Corps helped sustain the Allied war effort, providing the manpower in the logistic effort to support the frontline. The story also reveals the feats of numerous Chinese who served in the Australian Imperial Force. It is a story of service with and support of the Anzacs worth telling, and is told most impressively in this book. – His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley, AC DSC (Retd), Governor of New South WalesWill Davies has brought to fruition this book highlighting the forgotten Chinese and Chinese Australians who contributed to both The Great War and Second World War. We at the Museum of Chinese Australian History (The Chinese Museum) in Melbourne, see such a collaboration will hopefully bring to Australia an awareness of the Chinese from China and Chinese Australians to be remembered by current and future generations of Australians for their participation, sufferings and sacrifices in both wars. Lest we forget. – Dr Edmond Chiu AM, Volunteer researcher, The Chinese Museum, Melbourne
