The Forgotten

Our reflections over the past four years on the service of the Anzacs in World War I have uncovered many stories. This story, tenaciously pursued by Albert Wong, and well captured by Will Davies, tells us of a contribution to the War, and particularly to the Anzacs, that few of us would be aware of.The Chinese Labour Corps helped sustain the Allied war effort, providing the manpower in the logistic effort to support the frontline. The story also reveals the feats of numerous Chinese who served in the Australian Imperial Force. Will Davies entered the Australian film industry in 1972 and spent 37 years as an independent producer of historical documentaries and series for the ABC and SBS before retiring in 2010. He began writing books in 2012 and has since published ten. He was a member of the NSW Anzac Council, leads battlefield tours to the Western Front, and has served on several boards. In 2018, he was awarded a Ph.D from the ANU and is currently working to build a war memorial school in the French village of Pozieres.
