About The Author
Dr. Gillian Deakin
Dr. Gillian Deakin has dedicated nearly half a century to studying and working in medicine. She earned her MD from Monash University after serving as the medical officer in Antarctica. Upon her return, she pursued a Masters Degree in Public Health at Sydney University, investigating the broader causes of illness. Following a year managing an aid program in Kiribati, she returned to her medical practice in Bondi, Sydney, in 1991, where she remains deeply involved in the lives of her patients. As a supervisor of general practice registrars and Examiner at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, she maintains a strong foundation in orthodox medicine while expanding her health knowledge through studies in nutrition, acupuncture, yoga, meditation, lifestyle medicine, and clinical hypnotherapy. Currently residing in Sydney with her husband, she enjoys an active role in her grandchildren’s lives, gardening, and beekeeping.
