Critics Review
‘I found it fascinating - it’s an integral part of the history of Dublin that has been lost to time for too long’ – Rick O’Shea ‘A century on from Monto’s closure, here is a fresh new approach. Caroline West puts the women who worked there front and centre, in a book full of humanity, empathy and insight. Vital to understanding how Monto came to be, and what happened to it’ – Donal Fallon * author of Three Castles Burning * ‘Unflinching in its purpose to peel away the stigma and reclaim the voices of those often dismissed and discarded throughout history. Meticulously researched, West manages to show the harsh realities of 19th-20th century sex workers in, frankly, refreshingly humane storytelling’ – Katie Charlwood * WhoDidWhatNow podcast *
