Dr Billy Garvey
Dr. Billy Garvey is a developmental paediatrician with over 25 years of experience working with children in various settings. He is a senior specialist at a leading tertiary paediatric hospital, where he provides care for families, trains clinicians and other professionals, and conducts research in child development and mental health.
Dr. Garvey’s clinical and research interests encompass child development and mental health, multidisciplinary collaboration, enhancing health literacy, and fostering community engagement to support families. He holds clinical, advocacy, and research positions within government and not-for-profit organizations at national, state, and local levels.
Currently, he is pursuing a PhD, piloting a model to support child emotional and behavioural development in primary schools. He is also a Churchill Fellow, exploring the use of social media to support parenting.
Dr. Garvey is the founder of Guiding Growing Minds, a social enterprise dedicated to enabling all children to reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives. The Pop Culture Parenting podcast is an initiative that aligns with this vision.
