Critics Review

A brave, vulnerable and wise book that maps the ineffable: transformation from heart-crushing despair to transcendent peace with reality. Anna Lembke’s newest work will be a salve and a cherished soul-guide to many – Gabor Maté, bestselling author of The Myth of Normal
A brave, luminous book. Anna Lembke takes one of the hardest experiences a person can endure and transforms it into hard-won wisdom about acceptance, humility, and finding peace. Radical Surrender is that rare book that doesn’t just describe letting go, it teaches you how – Amir Levine, bestselling author of Attached
A beautifully personal and deeply researched antidote to the often overwhelming time we’re living in. Through science, spirituality, and personal stories, Dr. Lembke makes an undeniable case for relinquishing control for a more fulfilling existence – Lori Gottlieb, bestselling author of Maybe You Should Talk to Someone
Anna Lembke writes with a rare combination of scientific clarity and spiritual humility. In a culture that glorifies achievement, certainty, and control, Radical Surrender offers a wiser and more soulful path to feeling more fully alive. This book is like a steady hand held out to us in the dark – Robert Waldinger, New York Times bestselling coauthor of The Good Life
[An] impassioned case for rejecting the modern search for certainty …. her insistence that surrender can be a courageous acceptance of human limits resonates. Spiritually curious readers, especially those grappling with grief or uncertainty, will find much to contemplate * Publishers Weekly *
Lembke fuses the pragmatic cultural relevance of Cal Newport with the beautiful soul-seeking of Brené Brown in an elegantly rendered exploration of what it means to find a sense of meaning beyond the self in a world where technology and trends have eroded meaningful connections * Library Journal *
Utterly mesmerising. Radical Surrender draws you down a path of scientific discovery and profound personal reflection, inviting you to relinquish control and embrace the mystery and uncertainty of being alive. A revelation - and a liberation – Dr Joseph Jebelli, bestselling author of The Brain at Rest
Radical Surrender is Anna Lembke’s most personal book, and perhaps her most important. She weaves her own grief, her patients’ stories and neuroscience into a compelling argument of how our ancient brains, handed unprecedented control in a modern world, have trapped us in anxiety, loneliness and shame. As a neurologist, I was fascinated by her account of what surrender looks like inside the brain. As a reader, I was simply moved. For all, it should help one hold life a little more loosely, and more able to do the next right thing – Dr Paul Goldsmith, author of The Evolving Brain
