Doug Shadel
Doug Shadel is a former fraud investigator and special assistant attorney general with the Washington State Attorney General’s office. He served as the State Director for AARP Washington for almost 20 years. Shadel has collaborated on numerous educational videos, academic studies and has co-authored several books about fraud including Weapons of Fraud (2005) and The AARP Fraud Fighter Handbook (2024). He serves as an expert witness for the US Department of Justice in criminal fraud cases and is currently managing director of Fraud Prevention Strategies, LLC, a Seattle consulting firm.
Aaron Foss is a software developer and the founder of Nomorobo, a service designed to block unwanted telemarketing calls. Foss started Nomoromo after winning the Federal Trade Commission’s 2013 “Robocall Challenge”, a competition seeking innovative solutions to stop robocalls. Foss is often cited as an expert on robocall prevention. He has spoken at conferences and events, and has been featured in major media outlets. His innovative telecom work has made him a prominent figure in the fight against robocalls and telemarketing scams.
