About The Author
Don Stradley
Don Stradley is an award-winning journalist and author who has written about boxing for nearly 20 years. His writing has appeared in The Ring magazine, Ringside Seat, and ESPN.com, as well as various U.K. and South African publications. He’s won various awards from the Boxing Writers Association, including honors for live event coverage and feature writing. Don has written several books on boxing, including biographies of Edwin Valero and Carlos Monzon. His book Slaughter in the Streets followed the exploits of several Boston area boxers who were involved in criminal activity. His 2021 book, The War, focused on the unforgettable 1985 battle between Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns. When not writing about boxing, Don has covered everything from local news to true-crime. His book Boston Tabloid: The Killing of Robin Benedict covered an infamous murder case of the 1980s. He has also contributed articles to various movie magazines, including Cinema Retro and Noir City. Several of his film essays have been included in Film Masters’ Blu-ray releases. He lives on Boston’s North Shore. His byline appears in The Ring on a regular basis.
