Dean Spears is an economist, demographer, and associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a founding executive director of r.i.c.e., a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s health, growth, and survival in rural India.

Michael Geruso

Michael Geruso is an economist, demographer, and associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously served as a senior economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers under President Biden, where he provided expertise on healthcare and population change.

Both Dean Spears and Michael Geruso’s research on health, population, and climate change has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals and has been featured in prominent publications such as The New York Times, The Economist, and National Geographic.
