Fifteen-year-old Cara Gillespie and her family visit a 'living' museum, Harply Historical Village, which depicts a slice of Australian rural village life in the nineteenth century. When the time comes to leave the museum village, Cara finds a curious-looking device in some long grass. Believing the device to be a transistor radio, Cara spins the dial and promptly transfers herself back to the 1840s, where she finds that by some mischance her mother has also been transported. Now all Cara and her mother have to do is somehow work out how they can get themselves back to the year 2001 - and Dad, who is waiting in the car park in the Mitsubishi. But before they achieve this, there are a number of hilarious and heartstopping adventures to be had along the way. About the Author

David McRobbie began his career as an engineer for the Merchant Navy. He then worked for many years as a principal and teacher in New Guinea and then as a producer and writer for ABC Radio.He has published 26 books, including the Wayne series, which he also wrote as a successful ABC children's television series, The Wayne Manifesto. His other titles include Mandragora, See How They Run, Eugenie Sandler PI and Tyro, which was shortlisted for the CBC Book of the Year, Older Readers, in 2000. He lives in Brisbane.
