About The Author

David Gates

Donald Barthelme (1931-1989) was a prolific American short story writer, novelist, and essayist. He published twelve books during his career, including two novels and a children’s book that received an award. Barthelme was a frequent contributor to The New Yorker and also held a position teaching creative writing at the University of Houston. His significant accolades include a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Book Award, and an award from the National Institute of Arts and Letters.
