Author Biographies

Simon Brew is the former editor and founder of Den of Geek. He is the author of three books including Movie Geek, TV Geek, and The Secret Life of the Movies. Simon is also the founder of the magazine and podcast Film Stories.

Allister Brimble is a music and sound designer with over 400 video game credits since the early 1990s. He has worked on a vast array of platforms, from early 8- and 16-bit computers to modern consoles, phones, and tablets.

David Crookes began his journalism career in 1994. He has written for numerous publications including The Independent, BBC Radio 5 Live, gamesTM, Wireframe, and Retro Gamer. His previous books include Cloud Computing In Easy Steps and Facebook for Beginners In Easy Steps. He also curated the exhibition Videogame Nation.

Andrew Gillett developed an interest in computers from a young age, writing simple programs on the ZX Spectrum at five. He has contributed to games that have sold millions, such as Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Kinectimals, and Kinect Disneyland Adventures. After 13 years in the games industry, he is now a computer science tutor and indie developer.

Dan Malone has been a part of the UK games industry for over 30 years, with experience in writing stories, game design, character design, and comic art. His credits include design and graphics for Speedball 2 and The Chaos Engine (Amiga/Atari ST), and character model design for SSX Blur (Nintendo Wii).

Sean M. Tracey describes himself as a technologist with a broad interest in all aspects of technology. He has contributed to a variety of projects and occasionally writes books about his experiences.

Eben Upton is the CEO of Raspberry Pi Ltd., overseeing the software and hardware architecture of Raspberry Pi computers and microcontrollers.

Liz Upton was an award-winning journalist before co-founding Raspberry Pi with her husband, Eben. She now serves as the Executive Director of Communications at Raspberry Pi. She plays the piano, collects and restores vintage fountain pens, and is skilled at encouraging toddlers to eat vegetables.

Dr. David Braben has 42 years of experience as a software engineer. He co-wrote the best-selling computer game Elite in the early 1980s and founded Frontier Developments plc in 1994. He also co-founded the Raspberry Pi Foundation in 2008, a charity dedicated to supporting education worldwide. Dr. Braben supports start-ups, particularly in the environmental sector, through his involvement with Cambridge Angels. He has received a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Fellowship of BAFTA, several honorary doctorates, and an OBE. He enjoys games, sailing, films, and serves as a BAFTA film judge.
