On a bitter November evening, young Mary Yellan journeys across the rainswept moors to Jamaica Inn in honour of her mother's dying request. Daphne du Maurier, daughter of the famous actor- manager Sir Gerald du Maurier, was born in London and educated at home and in Paris. Most of her novels have been bestsellers and many of them have been made into film. She died in 1989.
