Titus Flavius Clemens Alexandrinus (ca. A.D. 150-215) wrote the Stromateis, possibly the third work in his trilogy–the Protrepticus, the Paedagogus, and the Stromateis–to direct Christian Gnostics toward the third stage of philosophy–gnosis.
