Read all about Summer McKinny, American Girl's Girl of the Year 2025, directly from Summer! Read along as Summer tells her story in fun journal entries and drawings!
Summer McKinny loves dogs and she loves baking, so she starts Waggy Pup Tails, a dog walking and treat baking service. Part of her profits are going to Four Paws, the animal shelter where she adopted her dog, Crescent. When Aunt Olivia comes to stay, she brings lots of creative ideas for Summer's business. She also brings her feisty feline, Fettuccine. Crescent isn't sure what to do with a cat in the house, and Fettuccine keeps escaping. It's up to Summer to help them get along AND get ready for her very first youth entrepreneur fair. Paws crossed she can do it!

She now lives with her family in an apartment in Queens, New York, where, unfortunately, pets are not allowed, so she frequently borrows her friends' dogs.
