What They're Saying

Critics Review

The playfulness of the quolls as they awake at night for frolicking and delight. The combination of story and facts about Eastern Quolls. The interactions between the Eastern Quolls and other nocturnal creatures, such as the Tasmanian Devil and the Masked Owl. The index and information about the Eastern Quoll at the back of the book. The delicate line work of each quoll’s fur - utterly exquisite.

* Zoe, @idreamofallthebooks *Whilst they are aimed at younger readers in preschool, these are books that can be read and enjoyed by any age. Because it is important to remember that everyone might learn about things at different times, or have different access to information than other people. So these introductory books are great for the whole family, or any level of primary school to introduce a topic or just read it as part of studying something. Christopher Cheng’s prose is accompanied by Cindy Lane’s realistic and delightful illustrations that bring the world of the quoll to life, exploring how they live and the life cycle of the quoll. Together, these elements bring the story and knowledge to life, and give it a sense of wonder for readers. This is another fantastic addition to the Nature Storybooks series. * Ashleigh, The Book Muse *

About The Author

Christopher Cheng

Christopher Cheng dwells within the old (and new) walls of an inner-city Sydney terrace. He is the author of many children’s books including his previous Nature storybook title Python (illus. Mark Jackson) which was shortlisted for the 2013 Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year awards. Passionate about animals, particularly those native to Australia, it’s fitting that he established the Zoomobile and taught at Taronga Zoo in Sydney for many years, celebrating his background in education.

He has always loved to write (he mostly always carries his notebook and pens) but he never thought he would be a full-time children’s author.

Cindy Lane grew up peering into rockpools on the northern beaches of Sydney, and not much has changed, although now it’s the rockpools of sunny Perth. She illustrated her first picture book in Year 3, with her best friend as author. Cindy spends most of her time in her seaside studio, creating illustrations with a variety of paints, pigments and things she finds. She feels like a new adventure is about to happen every time she walks through the studio door!
