Description

The second hilarious adventure starring Scooter the inventor and his top secret alien sidekick.

Scooter’s hyper-creative brain is a constant fizz of brilliant ideas, but when he pairs up with his best friend Fizzbee the alien, his inventions are out of this world…

McLay’s Jam factory is scheduled for a Grand Re-Opening TONIGHT. That is until Scooter’s nemesis Daffy Dodgy turns up to reveal her name is still on the deeds. Scooter must either hand over all his best ideas, or find the money to buy back the factory. When Cat Pincher turns up with a treasure map, revealing there’s a hoard of treasure buried under the jam factory, it seems like Scooter’s in with a chance.

But he’s not the only one after the treasure…

Can Scooter, Fizzbee and Cat follow the map and find the treasure? Will Daffy and Boris the guinea pig do what they do best and mess everything up? Or will Cat’s nefarious uncle, Perry Pincher and his gold-sniffing ferret Colonel Pom Pom beat them all to it?

A Goonies-style, rollercoaster, comedy adventure packed with enough, inventive, alien-powered recipes to rival Wonka. Action-packed and sparky, this book fizzes with impish imagination, zany humour and dynamic characters. Ingredients include dodgy dance moves, pirate guinea pigs and courageous, empathetic inventors. About the Author

Chrissie Sains

Chrissie grew up in Essex where she spent much of her childhood pretending that she was Indiana Jones and is a highly experienced cushion walker (little known skill of hopping across the floor on cushions in case of lava sharks).

Chrissie has worked as a marketing and events planner, a chalet host, a ski guide and a (pretty rubbish) dry-stone wall builder. She now loves turning the daydreams of her childhood into stories.

Chrissie enjoys hiking up the fells of the Lake District and skiing down the mountains of the French Alps. She lives in Essex with her husband, two bookworms and two rabbits.

Chrissie’s An Alien in the Jam Factory, illustrated by Jenny Taylor, is shortlisted for the Teach Primary Book Awards 2021. Chrissie is also co-author with Cara Mailey of Cara’s debut children’s novel, I Got This, inspired by Cara’s experiences living with achondroplasia.

Jenny Taylor

Jenny Taylor is an illustrator and graphic designer originally from Scotland, but now living in Preston, England. Drawing stories since 1997, when she first discovered what pencils and paints could really do, she has finally achieved her childhood dream with this debut book about aliens and jam. When not drawing, Jenny enjoys long walks in the shade with her ginger companion, attempting new and complicated recipes or watching her favourite animated movies.
