About The Author
Chris Claremont
Len Wein
Co-creator of DC’s Swamp Thing (1972), Len Wein later moved to Marvel for lengthy runs on Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk, and Thor. He also helped bring Giant-Size X-Men #1 into the world, significantly impacting Marvel. Returning to DC as an editor, Wein oversaw an influx of British writing talent, including Alan Moore’s Watchmen. Wein has also worked in television and animation, developing a Swamp Thing screenplay and writing comic book adaptations of The Simpsons and Futurama.
Chris Claremont
Best known for his sixteen-year run on Uncanny X-Men, Chris Claremont’s focus on themes of prejudice and tolerance resonated deeply with comics fans, building an unparalleled following over three decades. Under his guidance, the X-Men franchise spawned numerous spin-offs, many written by Claremont himself. His other credits include Iron Fist, Ms. Marvel, Power Man, and Spider-Woman. Claremont has revisited the X-Men universe in New Exiles, GeNext, X-Men Forever, Chaos War- X-Men, and Nightcrawler.
Dave Cockrum (1943-2006)
After a six-year stint in the Navy, Dave Cockrum pursued his childhood dream of working in the comic book industry. With a natural talent for illustrating superheroes, Cockrum landed a gig on DC Comics’ Legion of Super-Heroes. He soon showcased his knack for innovative costume designs, revamping the look of the classic futuristic superhero team. After leaving Legion in 1975, Cockrum collaborated with Len Wein to create a new lineup of X-Men, including Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus. Cockrum’s bold new mutants quickly transformed X-Men into a best-selling title. Though his artistic output decreased in later years, his strong influence on modern creators remains evident, as seen in The Uncanny Cockrum Tribute Book (2004).
