Critics Review
“For those who love charming, imaginative stories blending pop-culture nostalgia with emotional depth, this will satisfy with its sparkling heart and humor. Set in the universe of the 1980s’ Lady Lovely Locks cartoon…this celebration of fandom and the joy of being yourself emphasizes the magical process of becoming the hero of your own story.”–Booklist“The story by Harris (The Drowned City) interlaces elements of cosplay, fandom, and fairy tales with heavier realistic themes, such as friendship, loss, and family. The ending will leave readers on the edge of their seats for the next installment… This entertaining modern-day fairy tale reinvention will appeal to fans of cosplay and all things “nerd” related.“–School Library Journal“The fast-moving, easy-to-read story combines very light romance with more adult financial concerns…Leigh’s geek cred rings true and her glib, quippy humor is genre-savvy.”–Kirkus Reviews“The Princess Bride meets Adventure Time in this magical story that’s perfect for fans of cosplay, Con culture, and all things nerdy. Fun, fast-paced, and will leave readers eagerly awaiting Leigh’s next visit to the colorful kingdom of Lovely Locks.”–Shannon Takaoka, author of Everything I Thought I Knew and The Totally True Story of Gracie Byrne“A dazzling retro fantasy romp that will quickly win over fans old and new!”–Sarah Glenn Marsh, author of the Reign of the Fallen duology“Carrie Harris delivers authentic nerddom and impressive cosplay craft details in Snagged, a clever homage to the chaotic, campy glory of 80s Saturday morning cartoons. Harris fully embraces Lady Lovely Locks’s wacky aesthetic, complete with artificer princesses and flirty manga hedge wizards. But beneath the surface nostalgia lies something more intriguing–an ending that reframes everything that came before and sets up what promises to be an even more compelling sequel.”–Nikki Van De Car, author of The Invisible Wild
