Summary
It’s a story about how places we live can shape our understanding of what it is leaving inside of us. For the little girl in the story, life on the hill had a rhythm. The ‘peenie wallies’ the stillness of the dark nights and the glow of moonlight all had a rhythm which she would embrace with contemplative ardor. In The Little Girl on the Hill, you’ll find out it was not just a place to wait. It was also a place where she learned, explored, worked, had good food, and read a lot. Her complicated feelings of waiting and hoping captures a distinct Jamaican experience of universal emotional reach.
