About The Author
C. Mauli Agrawal
C. M. Agrawal is the Chancellor of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His research specializes in the area of orthopedic and cardiovascular biomaterials/implants. During his professional career, he has authored more than 300 scientific publications and 18 patents and has served on the editorial boards of various scientific journals. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, a Fellow of the Biomaterials Science and Engineering, and a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
Joo L. Ong is the Senior Associate Dean of Administration and Graduate Studies and the USAA Foundation Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design at the University of Texas at San Antonio. His research focuses on modification and characterization of biomaterials surfaces for dental and orthopaedic applications, tissue engineering ceramic scaffolds, protein-biomaterial interactions, and bone-biomaterial interactions. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research – Part B, a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, a Fellow of the Biomaterials Science and Engineering, and a Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society.
Mark R. Appleford is the Associate Vice Provost – Undergraduate Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio and an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design at the University of Texas at San Antonio. His research focuses on tissue-biomaterial interactions, cellular engineering, reconstructive tissue engineering, and biocompatibility.
Gopinath Mani is the Principal Scientist at Abbott, focusing on surface modification and characterization of biomaterials, nanomaterials and nanomedicine, biodegradable metals and drug delivery systems. He is the Program Chair for the Surface Characterization and Modification Special Interest Group of the Society for Biomaterials, a co-Chair for the 2019 Society for Biomaterials Annual Meeting, and has developed and taught numerous graduate-level programs in biomaterials engineering.
