About The Author

Bruce Hannan

Born in upstate New York in 1951, I am a child of the baby boom generation, witnessing the emergence of much of today’s technology. My early years were spent in a close-knit community that felt like a scene from “Mayberry.” Later, I transitioned to a Catholic school, an experience that honed my resourcefulness and resilience.

In high school, I found solace in solitude and a passion for skiing, a sport where I discovered my first significant success. Upon graduating in 1971, I joined the U.S. Air Force, where I immersed myself in aircraft maintenance, finally feeling at home among the large jet aircraft. During this time, I also explored music and songwriting, harboring dreams of becoming a singer-songwriter, and began to pen songs and poetry.

Existential questions about God, eternal life, the universe, and astronomy occupied my thoughts. After a period of varied jobs and a 22-year marriage that produced two remarkable children, I returned to college at the age of 49 to study electronics.

This led me to a fulfilling career as a technician building Neutron Detectors for the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Still contemplating the mysteries of God and eternal life, I embarked on writing a book, “Here I Am,” published in 2022, to share my perspectives on humanity and spirituality. This endeavor marks the first step on what I believe to be God’s path for me.
