About the Author

Bettie Mae Jumper was a distinguished storyteller and served as the Director of Communications for the Seminole Tribe of Florida. She was the first Seminole Indian to graduate from high school, and she spent most of her career in tribal government, including time as Tribal Chairman and editor of the Seminole Tribune. Peter Gallagher is a journalist who has been writing about Florida and the Seminole people for more than forty years.
