About The Author
Beatrix Potter
Beatrix Potter was born in London in 1866. She spent a solitary childhood, observing and drawing animals and plants. Denied a formal education because she was a woman, she studied natural history on her own. In 1902, she published The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was an instant success. Over the next two decades, she wrote and illustrated more than twenty books, including The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck. In 1913, she married William Heelis and moved to the Lake District, where she became a sheep farmer and conservationist. She died in 1943, leaving behind a legacy as one of the world’s most beloved children’s authors.
