Suddenly, it seems people are dropping like flies everywhere San Diego investigative journalist Debra Ann Wynn looks; unexplainable loss, suffering, and misery consume far more of the survivors' lives than they should. She's willing to push the boundaries of common sense to understand why. As inexplicable tragedies entangle her and haunt friends and loved ones, the enormity of the bloodletting becomes obvious, the diabolical reasons for it innumerable, inescapable, terrifying... and undeniably real.
Told in three included books, the story follows the lives of two sets of characters. Separated by an entire country, their immutable destinies are set to collide in a fateful explosion, with an outcome no one can avoid... it all comes down to choices.
Book 1:
Seasoned San Diego investigative journalist Debra Ann Wynn and old college flame Paul Castro reunite. But celebrating must wait as she and Paul battle to save his daughter from her cancer's return. Debra Ann's news instincts can't ignore the odd bunching of carcinomas on the ward as she's drawn into another family's extraordinary health battles. And her interview with her old friend, Sgt. Marci Robbins, to support Debra Ann's article on homelessness takes a dark turn when she learns that people on the street are too often turning up missing. Adding to her challenges, private detective and friend Harry Sanderson calls Debra Ann with a problem. His East Coast office needs publicity as cover to protect a client's son, now known as Jeremy Hansen. The young man is in a difficult employment situation with a shadowy depopulation group. Harry asks Debra Ann if she can discreetly interview Jeremy, find out if his story rings true, and if so, publish it to major outlets.
Book 2:
Meanwhile, Frank Spector really wants to save humanity from itself. It's not that he's the least bit altruistic. It's that he so enjoys the work, especially the methods he employs. Vice president of an ad agency's Boston branch, his serial-killing side hobby has perfectly prepared him for his companion role in the multinational Hodin cabal. The cabal, too, wants to rid the world of its problems... by multiplying Frank's approach a few billion times over. Despite the distance between them, Debra Ann's and Frank's worlds are set to collide when Frank decides to betray the cabal, and needing somewhere to be other than on the East Coast.
Book 3:
Sent by the Court for a mental health examination, their new patient's stories of a mysterious international group's activities alarm the administrator of the psychiatric unit. Through his friendship with Marci Robbins, the administrator asks Debra Ann to interview the multiple-murder suspect and investigate the man's claims. The aftermath of those interviews will upend Debra Ann's world... and ultimately, yours.
