Aunty Fay Muir

Aunty Fay Muir is a senior Boon Wurrung and Wamba Wamba Elder, First Nations community leader and Koori Court Elder. She is a Language Specialist, working as a prison educator in First Nations languages and is a creative language revival consultant and collaborator. Aunty Fay provides cultural guidance to students and teachers at all levels of the Victorian education system, providing cultural and curriculum advice. In 2020, she was inducted to both the Victorian Honour Roll of Women and the Victorian Aboriginal Honour Roll. Aunty Fay cares about sharing her culture and stories and loves to take readers on a journey of learning.

Sue Lawson is an award-winning Australian author who writes books for children and young adults. Her books include The Biscuit Maker, illustrated by Liz Anelli and young adult novels Freedom Ride, shortlisted for the Children s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year and the NSW and WA Premier s Literary Awards, and Pan s Whisper, which won the Australian Family Therapist Award and was shortlisted for the Prime Minister s Literary Award. Sue’s young adult and children’s books are recognised for the sensitive way they explore the exciting and heartbreaking complexities of growing up.

Jasmine Seymour is a Dharug woman and descendant of Maria Lock, who was the daughter of Yarramundi, the Boorooberongal elder who had met Governor Phillip on the banks of the Hawkesbury River in 1791. Maria was the first Aboriginal woman to be educated by the Blacktown Native Institute. She was married to carpenter and convict, Robert Lock and their union resulted in thousands of descendants who can all trace their Dharug heritage back past Yarramundi. Jasmine is a member of the Dharug Custodian Aboriginal Corporation. It is Jasmine’s wish that through her books, everyone will know that the Dharug mob are still here, still strong. Jasmine is a primary school teacher in the Hawkesbury area of NSW.
