Cloaked Mystery is a collection of poems in which it ispossible to sense right from the very first lines the author’s need toexpress her interiority, a sort of motion of the soul that transcendstime and space and plunges us into a whirlwind of emotions andsensations, amidst mythological references and allusions to a naturethat the verses seem to personify.
Each reading calls into us a set of emotions expressed in a romantic,literary language that echoes themes dear to the mid-nineteenth-centuryRomantic literature. This is evident in the constant reference to natureand its elements, which become entities imbued with strong symbolism.
For the author, poetry represents an inexhaustible creative force thatspeaks for itself and of which she becomes a simple means and aninstrument.
Poetry is an emulation of the subconscious, and it gives voice to ideas,feelings and emotions, something without which it is impossible for thewriter to build up her personal life.

Asmaa Rateb SHD is a Syrian poetess born on 14thFebruary 2003 in Saudi Arabia. The love for poetry has always been animportant part of herself. The incipient fondness for Literature beganat the age of 17, when she wrote her first poem. But, since she did nothave the opportunity to enter university to pursue her literaryaspirations, she self-taught English and poetry for three years. Herfondness for the Romantic poetry is evident in her work Cloaked Mystery, in which she expresses her deep and truest self.
