Summary

Harness pressure, reframe fear and perform at your best when it matters most.

Rather than teaching people how to excel under pressure, Ant Williams, a psychologist working in elite sport, decided to practise what he preached, and took up sports that scared him. First freediving and then ice diving, Ant set two world records and proved that the mental techniques that he used could build resilience and help him thrive in life’s most challenging moments.

About The Author

Ant Williams

Ant Williams is a world-record-holding freediver, performance psychologist, and mental strength coach with two decades of experience exploring performance under pressure.

Before his record-breaking freedives under Arctic ice, Ant coached elite athletes in disciplines such as MotoGP, big-wave surfing, and extreme sports, focusing on mastering fear, enhancing focus, and optimizing high-stakes performance.

Seeking a deeper understanding of operating at the edge, Ant turned to freediving, driven by a desire to confront his own fears. He trained himself to a world-class level, achieving multiple world records, including the deepest freedive under ice (70.3m) and the longest distance swum under ice (182m), in near-total darkness and sub-zero water.

Currently, Ant integrates his expertise in sport psychology and extreme adventure to guide others in harnessing pressure, reframing fear, and achieving peak performance when it counts. His immersive freediving experience was featured in Apple’s Adventure series on Apple Vision Pro, showcasing human potential in extreme environments.
