What They're Saying

Critics Review

“As a clinical scientist and MINT trainer who has been working in the motivational interviewing (MI) field for over 20 years, this book is exactly what I have been waiting for! Dr. Angie Wood brings together information from various evidence-based practices and positions them in the MI style in an easy to understand and apply way. I will be using this book with my patients in my private practice as it is a great adjunct to individual or group psychotherapy. But the real beauty is that individuals can pick it up and walk themselves through a behavior change in a collaborative, autonomy-supportive way because, really, they are in charge!” –Dr. Michelle Drapkin, Owner/Founder CBT Center of Central NJ, MINT Trainer“Dr. Angie Woods, like most social workers, has an innate desire to better the lives of others. Through the writing of this self-help book, she has made yet another significant contribution in that regard. Informed by evidence-based practices, her passion, and her wisdom, Dr. Woods has skillfully explained change in plain language and broken down the steps of change into digestible chunks. She’s included poignant examples and sprinkled in a bit of humorous self-disclosure. This self-help book is for anyone who has ever struggled with indecision around change–in other words, everyone!” –Laura A. Saunders, MSSW, Member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers“Dr. Wood has successfully brought the art of motivational interviewing into the hands-on applications people want–and transforms the process of MI into something you can do alone or with someone wanting to support your efforts. As a clinician, this workbook is a perfect resource for client homework between sessions, and as a trainer, it offers case examples and exercises that are practical. This workbook is a must-have for all.” –Dr. Stephen Phillippi, PhD, LCSW, CCFC
