AMBROSE BIERCE (1842–1914?) was an American writer, critic and essayist, famous for works of satire and cynicism such as The Devil’s Dictionary as well as over 200 short stories and weird tales. Bierce’s final fate is unknown after he disappeared while travelling to, or through, Mexico.
