This is a story of living with a narcissistic husband and dealing with his controlling family. It goes from the highs of a new relationship, before slowly deteriorating into an emotionally crippling hole, which Lisa has to crawl out of.

The story covers seasonal farming activities and touches on the culture of NZ farming families. The expectations placed upon the sons and daughters for the continuity of the farm and the price they pay.
