Alice Alderman was born in London and studied at Camberwell College of Arts, Middlesex University and The Institute of Education (University of London).

Whilst she graduated with a BA Hons in Printed Textiles, her creative practice leant into illustration, and she initially began printing her whimsical characters onto t-shirts and selling these at markets across London as well as creating her designs on stationery and large vinyl wall stickers. In recent years collage has become her favourite media to work in, and she likes nothing more than the joy of cutting and sticking!

Alice is also an art teacher and has been working creatively with young children for twenty years – her favourite thing is to combine her joy in nature and creativity in an array of settings from formal education to festival fields.

Alice has always dreamed of creating children’s books and her teaching career and motherhood spurred her on to fulfil this dream in 2025 when her debut book, I SHINE LIKE THE SUN, was published.

Alice lives in South London with her family and 2 squishy faced cats, Anthea and Elsie. She divides her time between illustration, writing and teaching art.
