Aeschelus

Aeschylus (c.525-455 B.C) was an ancient Greek playwright and soldier. Considered the “father of tragedy,” his work marks the beginning of scholars’ knowledge of the tragedy genre. Aeschylus claimed inspiration to write stemmed from a dream in which the god Dionysus encouraged him. Though he is estimated to have written just under one hundred plays, only seven have been recovered.
