Fumi Yoshinaga
Fumi Yoshinaga
Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1971, Fumi Yoshinaga is a graduate of Keio University. A lifelong comic artist and storyteller, she made her professional debut in 1994 with The Moon and the Sandals, serialized in Hanaoto magazine. Prior to her debut, she was an active participant in independent comic and fanzine conventions.
Since her debut, Yoshinaga has created 16 series, some of which have been adapted into motion pictures and animated television series. Her work on Antique Bakery brought her international acclaim, and she has been nominated for the Eisner Award for her titles Flowers of Life and Ooku-The Inner Chamber.
Several of Yoshinaga’s works have been licensed internationally. She recently exhibited her art in the United States as part of the touring exhibition “Shojo Manga: Girl Power!” with stops in Vancouver, Sacramento, New York, Chicago, and Boston.
