Dr. Lucy Rogers MBE

Dr. Lucy Rogers MBE is a distinguished engineer, inventor, and highly sought-after science communicator. A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of both the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, she currently holds the position of Visiting Professor of Engineering at Brunel University, London. Dr. Rogers earned her PhD for her pioneering work on engineering bubbles for firefighting.

In recognition of her significant contributions to engineering, she was awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List in June 2024. Her exceptional ability to make science and technology accessible and engaging has led her to create and operate a diverse range of projects, including full-size animatronic dinosaurs for a theme park. She also served as a judge for three seasons of the popular BBC Two program “Robot Wars.”

Dr. Rogers is the author of It’s ONLY Rocket Science. She also served as a consultant for the DK books Robot: Meet the Machines of the Future and Inventor Lab. This current work is her first book aimed at a general audience.
