Brian Michael Bendis
Brian Michael Bendis is an award-winning and highly successful comic-book creator. He is renowned for his acclaimed run on Daredevil and for revitalizing Marvel’s Avengers franchise. His notable event projects include House of M, Secret War, Secret Invasion, Siege, Age of Ultron, and Civil War II.
Bendis wrote every issue of Ultimate Spider-Man from its inception in 2000, introducing the multiracial Spider-Man, Miles Morales, to the Marvel Universe. He also explored Marvel’s mutants in All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men, and significantly boosted the popularity of Guardians of the Galaxy. His work on Tony Stark includes Invincible Iron Man, where he introduced Riri Williams as Ironheart, and Defenders, bringing together street-level heroes Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and his co-creation Jessica Jones.
His creator-owned projects include Scarlet (with Alex Maleev), Brilliant (with Mark Bagley), Takio, and the Eisner Award-winning Powers (with Michael Avon Oeming).
Alex Maleev, a Bulgarian-born artist, received the Russ Manning Award for Best New Talent in 1997. He first collaborated with Brian Michael Bendis on Image Comics’ Sam & Twitch. Their subsequent partnership on Marvel’s Daredevil in 2001 resulted in a gritty, critically acclaimed run that earned them an Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series in 2003.
Maleev has also illustrated for Bendis on projects such as New Avengers- Illuminati, Civil War- The Confession, Secret Invasion- Dark Reign one-shots, the Halo- Uprising limited series, the print and motion comic versions of Spider-Woman, and the creator-owned series Scarlet. Their collaboration continued with International Iron Man and its successor series, Infamous Iron Man, further exploring the world of Tony Stark.
