What They're Saying

Critics Review

“I’ve stood in the crucible of combat. I’ve seen men tested in the darkest moments imaginable—where fear, chaos, and loss collide. It is during those moments when true character is revealed. Tim Brown is one of those men. He embodies what I call the Overcome mindset in his refusal to quit, and his commitment to honor those we’ve lost by becoming more, giving more, and loving more. If you’ve ever wondered how to move forward when life knocks you to your knees—this book will show you the way.”—LT Jason Redman, U.S. Navy SEAL (Ret.), New York Times bestselling author of The Trident and Overcome

The Greatest Love reveals how 9⁄11 survivors find resilience through stories of heroes who selflessly helped others. As the first chief at the WTC, I deeply empathize with Brown’s brave journey to uncover hope with a purpose from the Twin Towers.”—Chief Joseph Pfeifer (Ret. FDNY), New York Times bestselling author of Ordinary Heroes: A Memoir of 9⁄11

“Brown’s story reads biblical in the extremes that he endured and in the redemption that he found. In committing to something larger than himself—preserving the memory of the fallen—he found an unexpected and inspiring way forward.”—Clifford Chanin, director of the 9⁄11 Memorial & Museum, filmmaker, and author

“I was profoundly moved by Tim’s story of resilience, faith, and the enduring purpose of… . [The Greatest Love] is a raw and honest testament to [his] journey through darkness and his slow struggle to find tools for survival… . His search for answers provides a roadmap back to life.”—Admiral William McRaven, from the foreword

“A powerful reminder that true courage is measured not in strength, but in service to others. Brown doesn’t just tell a story of survival—he delivers a blueprint for leadership under the most extreme circumstances imaginable.”—Gary Sinise, actor and founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation

“If you’ve ever faced loss, trauma, or a moment that changed everything, this book will meet you there. Tim Brown offers not easy answers, but hard-earned wisdom on how to rise from the rubble and keep living.”—Terry Strada, widow of Tom Strada, North Tower

“I am grateful for how Brown tells the stories of the brave people he served alongside on 9⁄11, as well as the stories of the families left behind. Brown lives the words he’s written every single day of his life. I’ve met no greater man.”—Karen Vaughn, Gold Star mother

“A moving reminder of the value of sacrifice … [Brown] illustrates his lessons with touching odes to the friends and colleagues he lost, and meditates poignantly on what it means to honor grief without letting it subsume one’s life. Readers will be inspired and uplifted.”Publishers Weekly, starred review
